Applying to College To Do List

• Finalize college list
• Add Colleges/Technical Schools To “Colleges I’m Applying To” in Naviance
  • Confirm App Type (refers to app deadline)
  • Confirm App Submission (refers to app you use)
• Match Common App to Naviance (if using)
• Request a Teacher and Counselor Letter of Recommendation (if needed)
  • Use counselor meeting sign up links on the left side of this page to request counselor meeting, if a counselor letter is required for at least one university.
• Request a Transcript (if needed)
  • See process below
• Schedule counselor 1:1 meeting
  • Only if a counselor recommendation letter is required for at least one university.
  • Meet with Mrs. Preston if no counselor letter of recommendation is required but transcript is required (not for UC/CSU/CC)
• Research Scholarships/Financial Aid resources on College/Career Center website, college/technical school websites

Transcript requests

Directions: Follow the instructions below based on how and where you need your transcript sent. Complete this form once you have reviewed the transcript delivery options below. Transcripts will be sent by the application deadline. We require 5 school days’ notice to send transcripts. You may check Naviance for submission status updates.

1. Electronic Delivery to Colleges Listed in Naviance (Colleges I’m Applying To)
   • Add college(s) in Naviance under “Colleges I’m Applying To”
   • Check Naviance: there must be a blue computer symbol showing under “Submission Type” in the “Colleges I’m Applying To” section or else we can’t send electronically through Naviance and you must request another option
   • Make sure deadline and delivery type is correct in Naviance
2. Mail Delivery to a college
   • Must provide a pre-addressed and stamped envelope to Ms. Alba, OPHS Registrar, in the main office.
   • Make sure to attach your first and last name somewhere on the envelope (e.g. post-it, paperclip) that you provide Ms. Alba.
3. Email or Upload to a college NOT in Naviance
   • See Ms. Alba at the front desk or contact her via email at kalba@opusd.org.

Mid-Year Reports

If one or more of your colleges requires a mid-year report, you must complete this Google form by January 17, 2025. A mid-year report is a form submitted by your counselor indicating your academic progress for the first half of your senior year. Along with the mid-year report, your counselor will submit a mid-year transcript.

• In order to determine whether your college(s) require a mid-year report, you can check the application requirements on each of your college’s admission websites. For Common Application colleges, you can check by looking at the “My Colleges” page on your Common App account, and then viewing the “recommendation requirements.” Click here to view an example.
• Note: UC, CSU, and community colleges do not require a mid year report unless a campus contacts you specifically to request one.
• Counselors will send mid-year reports in January.
